Ağaçören

Ağaçören, formerly known as Panlı, is a district of Aksaray province in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey. According to the 2022 census, the district's population is 7,577. The district covers an area of 407 square kilometers and its average altitude is 1,217 meters. District borders 3-4 BC. It was used as a settlement area by the Hittites in the century, and later remained within the Cappadocia region during the Byzantine period. Finds from these times were obtained from Taşkale and Church locations within the district borders. After 1071, the Oghuzs and earlier the Pechenegs began to settle in the region. Afterwards, they remained loyal to the Anatolian Seljuks. With the collapse of this state, Karamanoğulları dominated the region and later came under the rule of Kadı Burhaneddin Principality. The region, which did not see much activity during the Ottoman period, was not occupied by the enemy during the armistice period. However, it received a large number of immigrants from occupied regions. Panlı was the only township of Aksaray from 1920 to 1933, but when Aksaray was made a district, it was connected to Ankara. The name of the district was changed to Ağaçören in 1961. Afterwards, while it was a township affiliated with Ankara, it was re-attached to Aksaray as a district with the law no. 3578 dated 15.06.1989.
