Akdeniz

Akdeniz is a central district of Mersin Province. It is affiliated to Mersin Metropolitan Municipality. There are Toroslar in the north, Yenişehir in the southwest and Tarsus in the east. Mersin Port, Mersin Free Zone, Intercity Terminal, 52-story Mertim Tower, one of the largest skyscrapers in Turkey, Atatürk Park and Mersin Atatürk House are located here. It has an extremely cosmopolitan demographic structure. Mersin Cultural Center, one of the most active cultural centers in Turkey, is located in this district behind Cumhuriyet Square and next to the Orthodox Church.

The district is among the top 5 largest districts in Turkey in terms of commercial volume. Mersin Port, the largest port in Turkey, is located in Akdeniz district. Due to this effect, there are many translation offices and notaries in the district. İçel Art Club is also located in this district.

The house and mansion where Atatürk stayed when he came to Mersin many times is located in this district. Çamlıbel, which is shown as the best neighborhood of Mersin, is also located in this district. It is one of the most important districts of Mersin and Turkey with its law office, official offices, hospitals and schools, Mersin Governorship and Mersin Metropolitan Municipality.
