Araban

Araban is a district of Gaziantep province.

The Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Kılıç Arslan II captured Araban Castle in 1148-1150, and then in 1155, Atabey Nureddin Mahmud Zengi took Araban from the Seljuks. After this date, the region came under the rule of the Ayyubids of Aleppo, Anatolian Seljuks (1218), Mamluks, Ilkhanids (1259), Mamluks (1260), Dulkadiroğulları and Mamluks again.

During the reign of Yavuz Sultan Selim, the region joined the Ottoman lands in 1517, and after 1523, it was connected to the Rumkale accident of Birecik Sanjak. Araban, which is connected to Gaziantep, was a town named Raban after the proclamation of the Republic, but its name was changed later.
