Başiskele
Başiskele is a district of Kocaeli Province. It is located in the Çatalca-Kocaeli Section of the Marmara Region. The district was formed in 2008 by merging the towns of Bahçecik, Yeniköy, Karşıyaka, Yuvacık and Kullar.
The district borders Gölcük in the west, Kartepe in the east, İznik in Bursa and Pamukova in Sakarya in the south.
Inaugurated in 1999, Yuvacık Dam, which meets the water needs of Kocaeli and neighboring provinces, is within the borders of the district. The dam is built on Kirazdere and has a daily treatment capacity of 480 liters.
