Başyayla

Başyayla is a district of Karaman province.

It is close to the summit of the Taurus Mountains and was established between 1300 m and 1600 m at sea level. While it was connected to Ermenek until 1990, it became a district of Karaman in 1990. The population of this district consists of Avşar Turkmens. Karapınar, Üzümlü, Bozyaka and Kışla are the villages of Başyayla. Başköy neighborhood, Göztepe, Kirazlıyayla, Şirindere and Yeni neighborhood are the neighborhoods of Başyayla. The Turkmens, who were given the task of beekeeping during the time of Karamanoğlu Mehmet Bey, took a more active role compared to the previous period with the collection they collected in this region. There are only historical artifacts from the times of the Anatolian Seljuk State. There are also historical places and artifacts from ancient Rome.
