Cihanbeyli

Cihanbeyli is a district of Konya province.

Cihanbeyli is a part of Konya unit in terms of historical development, geographical structure and social life. The first name of Cihanbeyli is Esbikeşan. Later on, it was named "Inevi" and carried the name of Inevi for many years. Esbikeşan has changed its location many times from district to district, from district to district. In 1866, Kulu Village became a district under the name of Esbikeşan and Cihanbeyli and Şereflikoçhisar were connected to Kulu Village. However, the Aşair beys of Cihanbeyli and Koçhisar did not want to be connected to Kulu and put pressure on Ankara. Thereupon, the district organisation of Kulu was closed and Cihanbeyli and Koçhisar were separated from Kulu. Kulu was also connected to Sille District of Konya.

Canbegli tribe settled in Böğrüdelik village. Böğrüdelik became the district centre in 1928. Cihanbeyli is connected to this district by taking the name of "Mürseli Efendi" District. In 1929, Böğrüdelik was abolished as a district and Mürseli Efendi Sub-district became a district. In accordance with the name of the Canbeyli Tribe in Böğrüdelik, the name of Mürseli Efendi was transformed into Cihanbeyli. Kulu Village, Altınekin and Yeniceoba Districts were connected to the newly established district. Later on, Kulu in 1954 and Altınekin in 1987 were turned into district centres and separated from Cihanbeyli.
