Çubuk

Çubuk is a district of Ankara province. It is 35 km away from Ankara city center. The Battle of Ankara, which started the Interregnum in the Ottoman Empire, took place in Çubuk Plain. Esenboğa International Airport, Turkey's second largest international airport, is located within the district borders. Çubuk and its surroundings were among the first places captured during the conquest of Anatolia by the Turks. Çubuk Bey, one of the Seljuk commanders, captured this region. There are opinions that the name Çubuk may have come from here. The fact that Çubuk's first name is Çubukabad (the place where Çubuk prayed) also supports this view. The villages of Kışlacık, formerly known as Ahurlar, Yeşilkent, Yaylak, Okçular and Çatköy, which are affiliated with Çubuk district, are places used by Yıldırım Bayezid during the 1402 Ankara War and are named according to the way they were used: Kışlacık; Yaylak as headquarters; animal pastures, Ahurlar; The place where the stables are located and the villages of Okçular and Çatköy are the places where the Ottoman army archers were stationed against the enemy coming from the valley. The entire district is Turkmens coming from the Yazır, Kızık, Karkın, Peçenek, Çavuldur, Eymür, Büğdüz or Yıva branches of the Oğuz Tribe. Village names can be given as an example of this. Most of the village names are one of the names of the 24 Oghuz Tribes or their variations: Kızık, Çavundur, Büğdüz, Kargın, etc.
