Ekinözü

Ekinözü

Ekinözü is a district of Kahramanmaras province.

In the correspondence between Ottoman official institutions in the 1800s, the name of the village is found as "Celaki". Later on, it was named "Cela".

With the establishment of the Republic, Cela Village, which became a mukhtarate with the establishment of the Republic, was transformed into a town by establishing a municipal organization in 1958. On January 01, 1983, the name of Cela town was changed to "Ekinözü" and it was transformed into a district with the law numbered 3644 published in the Official Gazette numbered 20523 on May 20, 1990. On September 19, 1991, it gained de facto district status.
