Ermenek

Ermenek is a district of Karaman province. The district, which was sometimes called Ermenak (brave countries living in high places), was an important settlement where the Karamanoğulları Bey was the capital and where the Avshar Turkmens were formed, and with the collapse of this principality and the subsequent Ottoman period, it was incorporated into the Adana Province. It was governed as "Pasha Hassı" of the Sanjak. It became the sanjak center of Konya Province in 1845, and was made a district in 1910, first connected to Konya and then to Mersin. With the declaration of the Republic, the union was again connected to Karaman, similar to Konya, when Karaman became a province in 1989.

The district, which includes Maraspoli, one of the most important caves in the world, is located at the point of the Göksu river, quite high from the sea.
