Gülağaç

Gülağaç is a district of Aksaray province, 33 km away from the center. The municipality was established as Ağaçlı in 1957, and after Aksaray became a province, it became a district by changing its name from Ağaçlı to Gülağaç with the law no. 3644 dated May 9, 1990. It is 12 km away from Ihlara valley, 50 km away from Derinkuyu underground city, and is connected to Aksaray city center by two asphalt roads, 33 and 40 km away. The district, which has a surface area of 28.6 km2, has 3 town municipalities, 10 villages and 6 neighborhoods. The civil and administrative organization of the district started in August 1991. Along with the central municipality, there are 4 Mayors and 10 Village Headmen in the district. There are no hamlets (plateaus) connected to the town or its bays. The people are very attached to their traditions and customs. Wedding ceremonies and religious and national holiday celebrations are quite magnificent. There are religious festival celebrations in Turkey that are only seen in Gülağaç. At weddings, traditional wedding dinners are served, and henna night bridal reception ceremonies are held. Neighbors also make material and moral contributions to the wedding host. Guests are welcomed in the best possible way. The altitude of Gülağaç is 1,170 m.
