Hacıbektaş

Hacıbektaş is a district of Nevşehir province. It is one of the important centers of Cappadocia. It is surrounded by Avanos in the east, Mucur in the west, Gülşehir in the south, and Kozaklı districts in the north. The face of the seven-house Hacım Village changed after the Turkish thinker Hacı Bektaş-i Veli came to Anatolia from the city of Nishapur in Khorasan in the 13th century and settled in Suluca Karahöyük. Hacı Bektaş-i Velî established a science center here and spread his thoughts; After his death, the name of the village was changed to Hacıbektaş in honor of his name and memory. Hacıbektaş became a sub-district center of Niğde in 1541, and a municipal organization was established in 1854 and became a town. Later, on 1.1.1948, it became a district of Kırşehir province. With Nevşehir becoming a province on 24.7.1954, Hacıbektaş district was connected to Nevşehir. Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli Tomb, Kadıncık Main House, Bektaş Efendi Tomb, among the historical structures of the district that are still standing today, are owned by the General Directorate of Foundations and are used as museums by the General Directorate of Monuments and Museums of the Ministry of Culture. Ancient artifacts unearthed from Karahöyük excavations are exhibited in the Archeology and Ethnography Museum.
