Han

Han is a district of Eskisehir province, but is located in the Central Anatolia Region. Its population is 2,352 people and in this respect it is the fifth from the last among 922 districts.

In the Mühimme Book belonging to the period of Suleiman the Magnificent, Han is mentioned as Han-ı Barçın Kazası and it is stated that there are 119 villages. Its borders include all of today's Emirdağ, the northern parts of Iscehisar, all of Bayat, part of Sivrihisar and part of Haymana. Even Çaykışla, which is nowadays a part of Sultandağı, is stated to be a part of Han in the fiscal book. Afterwards, it was connected to Emirdağ, which was formerly connected to it, and until 1963 it was a part of this district of Afyon (today Afyonkarahisar) province. Han, which was then connected to Çifteler district as a parish, became a town on 15 May 1967 and gained the status of district with the Law No. 3644 enacted on 20 May 1990. Gökçeyayla village, which was previously part of İscehisar district of Afyonkarahisar province, was connected to Han district with the decision dated 16.02.1993 and numbered 93/41433.

The word meaning of Barçın is silkworm breeder and it is understood that the region was engaged in silkworm breeding at that time.
