Haymana

Haymana is a district in Ankara. It is a settlement that came under Hittite, Phrygian, Persian, Galatian, Roman-Byzantine domination in the past.[3] The population of the district consists of Turks and Kurdish tribes settled here between the 16th and 18th centuries. Hayme Hatun (Hayme Ana) became the head of the tribe after the death of Süleyman Shah and made Anatolian lands her home. Over time, Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat settled the tribe on the foothills of Karacadağ near Ankara. These foothills of Karacadağ were later named after him, and over time, this name became "Haymana" by dropping the letter 'e'. According to another claim, the name 'Haymana' comes from the Persian name "hayme", which means "tent", and Haymane was the name given to indicate all the nomads in the region. During the Ottoman period, "Ulu" (great) and "Kiçi" (Kiçi) were used in the place where the district is located today. There were two separate Haymane with the names (small) and with the combination of these districts, the settlement began to be called "Haymaneteyn", meaning "two Haymane".
