Hayrabolu

Hayrabolu is a district of Tekirdağ province.

Hayrabolu is one of the oldest settlements in Thrace. Although it was first conquered by the Turks in 1358, it was taken back by the Roman Empire after a short time. In 1368, it was taken back from the Roman Empire for the second and last time during the reign of Sultan Murad I. After this date, families selected from various regions of Anatolia, especially from Kayseri and Sivas, were settled in and around Hayrabolu.

Its old name was Chariupolis (Hanri-polis; Windy city). Today's name was changed to Hanripol; Hayrı-bol after the second conquest and today it is called "Hayrabolu".
