Kandıra

Kandıra is a district of Kocaeli province.

It is located in the north of the Kocaeli Peninsula. It has had a municipality since Ottoman rule.

Kandıra is the only non-industrialized district of Kocaeli. There is Kandıra F Type Prison between Izmit and Kandıra. In addition, some of the people of Kandıra go to Izmit to work. The majority of Kandıra villagers settle in Izmit. In addition, the old building of Kandıra Vocational School is located in Ahmatlı and the new building is located on Sakarya road.
