Karaköprü

Karaköprü is a district of Şanlıurfa province.

On November 2, 1991, it received municipality status and became a town. On November 12, 2012, it became a district with the Law No. 6360 adopted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The tall buildings of Şanlıurfa are located in this district. It is the fourth most populous district of Şanlıurfa.

Karaköprü district is also famous for pomegranate cultivation. In 2018, the Municipality's registration application to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office for the famous Karaköprü pomegranate, which is also the subject of folk songs and is among the important agricultural products of Şanlıurfa, was approved. In addition, a pomegranate statue was erected in the district center to memorialize the pomegranate, which has become the symbol of the district.
