Kızılcahamam

Kızılcahamam, formerly known as Wildabad, is a district located in the northern part of Ankara. It is on the E5 Ankara-Istanbul State highway. It lies between the districts of Kızılcahamam, Çubuk, Kahramankazan, Ayaş, Güdül, Çamlıdere and the provinces of Bolu and Çankırı. Kızılcahamam, a mountainous and forested district, covers an area of 1712 square kilometers. It provides passage between Central Anatolia and the Black Sea. Köroğlu Mountains is the most important mountain of the district, and Kirmir Stream, one of the branches of the Sakarya River, is the most important river in the district. Kurtboğazı, Eğrekkaya and Akyar dams, which provide drinking water to Ankara, are within the borders of Kızılcahamam Municipality. Kızılcahamam thermal springs, known to have been used since the Roman period, have become famous throughout Türkiye. Kızılcahamam is generally known for Soğuksu National Park, hot springs, hotels, mineral waters, historical places and festivals. It is said that thermal waters are good for many diseases. Due to its proximity to Ankara, it hosts many daily visitors, especially on weekends. At the district market held on Sundays, villagers from surrounding villages market the local and natural products they bring. Large hotels built in recent years host congresses and meetings, thus making great contributions to district tourism.
