Koyulhisar

Koyulhisar is the district of Sivas, which falls in the Black Sea climate and geographical region and is located in the northernmost part of the province.

It was a district of Şebinkarahisar, which was a province from 1923 to 1933. As a result of the studies carried out for the reorganization of the provinces, many provinces were turned into districts, meanwhile, Şebinkarahisar was turned into a district by the law numbered 2197 dated 20 May 1933, and Koyulhisar was connected to Sivas after this date.

A significant part of the local population is Turkmen and Chepni, as in other surrounding districts.

Koyulhisar; While he leaned his back to Dumanlı (Duman Baba, disciple of Hacı Bektaş Veli) mountain, he stretched his feet to the Kelkit river, known as the fault line. While the botanical structure on the mountain slope it backs on completely matches the plant structure of the Black Sea Region, landslides occur frequently due to the very clayey soil and the steep slope structure of the region, and these are even defined as disaster areas.

Although it is very rich with its forests and natural beauties, the findings and records regarding historical ruins and the past are very weak. There is nothing noteworthy in the district other than a monument and a mosque tomb.

Fossils of sea creatures from paleontological times (calcareous time and later) can be found in and around Eğriçimen Plateau.
