Mengen

Mengen is a district of Bolu province of Turkey. Mengen is a forested region and has high plateaus. The main ones are; Soğucak, Akçakoca, Bürnük, Sırıklı, Çukur Yayla, Çorakkadirler Plateau, Göl Plateau, Aktepe, Ağalar, Küçükkuz, Civcivler, Mamatlar, Elemen and Afşar Plateaus. Ödek, Kemal Savaş, Şirinyazı and Hızarderesi Ponds are important recreation areas. Mengen's biggest feature is; It has trained very famous chefs. The traditional "Mengen Cooks and Tourism Festival" is held every year. This festival is celebrated Internationally. Anatolian Culinary Vocational High School started education in 1985 and had its first graduates in 1992. Later, the Culinary School was opened within Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University. The 4-year Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department of the same university is also located in this district. The oldest bay is Gözecik village.
