The name Nallıhan; It is named after the Nallı Suyu passing nearby and the inn built by Nasuh Pasha, one of the Ottoman viziers. Nallıhan Bird Sanctuary, Hoşebe, Ilıca Waterfall, Taptuk Emre, Bacım Sultan, Sarıyar Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant are the important touristic places of the district. It is famous for its silk needle lace. Stuffed vine leaves, kapama pilaf, höşmerim and holiday buns are among the local dishes. It had two towns named Çayırhan and Sarıyar. Towns turned into neighborhoods within the scope of Law No. 6360. Tomatoes and peppers are the main sources of income in the district. Rice could be grown due to its microclimate feature. With the climatic change, the focus was on potatoes over time, but when the expected yield could not be obtained, planting beans and tomatoes became widespread. It has land suitable for hunting and various game animals. Boron is mined in the district. There is Çayırhan thermal power plant and sodium sulfate production facility belonging to Alkim Alkali Kimya in the district. In addition, wool sorting and washing facilities located in Bozyaka and Sobran villages of the district contribute to the district economy. The district, which also hosts Sarıyar and Yenice Hydroelectric Power Plants and important energy production facilities of the region, is rapidly progressing towards becoming a tourism center with Nallıhan Bird Sanctuary and Ilıca (Uyuzsuyu) Waterfall.
