Pamukkale

Pamukkale is a natural location in Denizli province in the Aegean region of Turkey. It includes terraces and travertines of carbonate minerals left over from the City Thermal Springs and flowing waters.

Location

It is located in the Aegean region of Turkey, in the Menderes River valley, which has a temperate climate. It is one of the preferred places of both local and foreign tourists.

The old city of Hierapolis was built on top of the white "fortress", which was 2,700 meters long, 600 meters wide and 160 meters high. Pamukkale can be seen from the hills across the valley from central Denizli, 20 km away. The ancient city of Laodicea is located 5–10 km away. 5 km away is the village of Karahayıt, an international thermal centre. Pamukkale is on the World Heritage list determined by UNESCO. Travertines; In addition to visual richness, it is good for heart diseases, rheumatism, digestion, respiratory, circulation and skin disorders.

Geology

Pamukkale terraces consist of travertine, a sedimentary rock precipitated by hot spring water.

In this region, there are 17 hot water springs with temperatures ranging from 35 °C to 100 °C.
