Pınarbaşı is one of the 16 districts of Kayseri. It is located on the Malatya and Kahramanmaraş highway, east of the city center. Kayseri's Akkışla and Bünyan districts lie in the west, Tomarza and Sarız districts in the south, Sivas' Gemerek, Şarkışla, Altınyayla and Kangal districts in the north, and Gürün districts in the east. The city, which was in the hands of the Armenians until 1863 during the Ottoman period, was restructured by the order of the Sultan and became a province of Sivas. It was transformed into a district (district) and formed the basis of its shape closest to its current state. The district, which was previously affiliated with the Sivas sanjak, joined the Kayseri provincial administration in 1927. It reached its current borders when Sarız, which was a sub-district, became a district in 1946 and Tomarza became a district in 1956 and some of its villages were connected to Tomarza. The highest mountain in the district is Shirvan Mountain. Between these mountain ranges are the Uzunyayla and Zamantı Basins. Zamantı and Uzunyayla basins are separated by the Toruntepe threshold in the south of Pınarbaşı district center. The most important river of the district is the Zamantı River and its tributaries. There are Pınarbaşı, Şerefiye, Karagöz and Küçük Gürlegen springs in the district. The winter seasons are extremely cold and snowy and it has a harsh continental climate. Summers are hot and dry. Pınarbaşı consists of 115 villages and 28 hamlets. There are 3 municipal organizations, namely Merkez, Pazarören and Kaynar Municipalities, and 146 settlement units.
