Posof
Posof is a district of Ardahan province and the center of this district. Its Ottoman name was Poshov, which was changed to Posof in 1929. The district is located on the Turkey-Georgia border; Türkgözü Border Gate is within the borders of the district.
Posof town consists of two neighborhoods today. The central neighborhood constitutes most of the town. The basis of this settlement is Diğviri, which was recorded as two separate villages during the Ottoman period. The Doğrular neighborhood, which forms a small part of the town, is the village of Doğrular, formerly known as Aşağı Cacun. Doğrular village has recently joined Posof town as a neighborhood.
