Saraydüzü

Saraydüzü is a district of Sinop province. While Saraydüzü District was a sub-district center of Boyabat, it gained district status in 1990. It is 28 km away from Boyabat district and 110 km away from the city center. The district has a wavy structure that can be considered mountainous. In the south of the district, there is Osmancık of Çorum, in the southeast is Vezirköprü of Samsun, in the southwest is Kargı of Çorum, in the north is Boyabat and in the northeast is Durağan. It is one of the smallest districts of the province in terms of surface area and is the district at the southernmost tip of the province. There is no town affiliated with the district; The number of affiliated villages is 32. In the district located in the Kızılırmak Basin, according to the Agriculture Master Plan, mountainous areas are classified as II. agro-ecological subzone; Plain areas are in III. It remains in the lower region. Fertile agricultural lands are concentrated in the district center and north. Other areas are VI. and VII. It consists of class quality soils. Saraydüzü is one of the two smallest districts of the province in terms of population size. According to the population results of 2020, the district population is 5,885 people, of which 1,806 people are urban and 4,079 people are rural population. In this case, the urban population rate is 30.7% and the rural population rate is 69.3%. However, the urbanization rate in the district is not high in parallel with the urban population. The district is mostly a rural settlement. In the tables at the beginning of the chapter, it is seen that the population of Saraydüzü district has decreased in parallel with the general trend in Sinop. Since the 1980s, the urban-rural population distribution in the district has also shown a significant change in favor of the urban population. The urban population rate, which was 8.3% in 1980, increased to 41.5% in 2000. While the urban population growth rate in the district is increasing over the years, there is a decrease in rural growth rates.
