Şereflikoçhisar

Şereflikoçhisar, formerly known as Koçhisar, is a district of Ankara. Located on the southern border of Ankara, it is one of the districts furthest from the city center. Şereflikoçhisar, which is approximately 147 km away from Ankara center, became a municipality in 1885; Şereflikoçhisar, which became a district in 1891, was connected to the province of Konya. Şereflikoçhisar, which was a district of Aksaray, which became a province in 1920, was connected to Ankara as a result of Aksaray being made a district in 1933. Şereflikoçhisar Cumhuriyet Primary School was built by Aksaray Governor Ziya Günar in 1931, when it was affiliated with Aksaray. In 1989, Sarıyahşi became a district with 7 villages and Ağaçören 27 villages, and was connected to Aksaray province. In addition, Evren (Çıkınağıl), with its 9 villages, was turned into a district with the Law No. 3644 on the Establishment of 130 Districts on 9 May 1990 and was annexed to the province of Ankara. The name of the district, known as Koçhisar, was changed to Şereflikoçhisar during the republic period, and the local people were awarded the title of Honor by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the Turkish Grand National Assembly for the martyrs they gave in Çanakkale and the heroism they showed.
