Seydikemer

It was formed as a result of the Law No. 6360 adopted by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on November 12, 2012, and the town of Kemer in the Fethiye district was transformed into a district and its name was changed to Seydikemer. The district took its name from the combination of the names of Seydiler and Kemer villages, which were previously connected to Fethiye. Seydiler Village was previously affiliated with the same headmanship as the Seki neighborhood, but later its headmanship was separated and it became an independent village. Kemer Town takes its name from the historical Kemer Bridge located in the neighborhood. Kemer, which was a neighborhood and sub-district center of Seydiler town in 1915, became an independent village by separating from Seydiler Village, which was 4 km apart, on September 3, 1949. It became a town by receiving municipality status on 26 December 1990. With the law no. 6360 adopted by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on 12 November 2012, its name was changed to 'Seydikemer' due to its merging with the Seydiler neighborhood.
