Şuhut

Şuhut is a district of Afyonkarahisar province, located in the easternmost part of the Inner Aegean Region. Its distance from the city center is 29 km. It became a district in 1946. It is estimated that Şuhut Hisar, Karaadilli Tumulus and Kepirtepe Tumulus, whose history dates back to the Neolithic age, are artifacts belonging to this age. In the Hittite period, it is known that the capital of Kuvalya, which was a principality affiliated to the Mira Kingdom, which ruled in the provinces of Afyonkarahisar and Kütahya, was Şuhut. The clear history of Şuhut begins with the establishment of the city of "Synnada" in 1180 BC by the Phrygian commander named Alemas, who took his troops, who participated in the Trojan Wars and were among the defeated, to this point. It has been a capital and a center of civilization during the Roman period in its history dating back to 3500 BC. Şuhut is in the East of the Inner Aegean Region and in the South of Afyonkarahisar. It is on the threshold that connects Western Anatolia to the Central Anatolia Region, and with an altitude of 1151 m, it is one of the highest settlements of Afyonkarahisar.
