Tarsus

Tarsus is the easternmost district of Mersin Province. The district is surrounded by Adana to the east, Mersin center to the west, Pozantı and Çamlıyayla to the north, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Located in the region most commonly known as Cilicia in history, the district has a long history of civilization, especially the Hittite Civilization. During the Hittite period, Tarsus was a city of the Kizzuvatna province.
