Tefenni

Tefenni is a district of Burdur Province.

Tefenni district was founded between 800-500 BC as the village of Istefani in the Byzantine era, remained under Byzantine rule until the 13th century, and from this date onwards, it was taken over by the Turkmen, Seljuk Dynasty and Ottomans respectively. In 1882, due to the earthquake in the region, the old settlement center was abandoned and established in its current location, and in 1886, the name Istefani was changed and became an accident with the name Tefenni.
