Ulubey is one of the districts of Ordu province. The district, with a population of 7000, is called "center" among the people because it is located in the middle of the villages. Since it is 21 km away from Ordu, many communications are made with Ordu. While this brings comfort to the residents, it does not create a favorable situation for the development of the district centre. Especially Germany, Austria, Netherlands, France etc. There was great migration to European countries and to Istanbul, Bursa, Adapazarı and Kocaeli. During the winter, towns and villages feel almost abandoned. Summers are active and lively. Because of the market held on Tuesdays, "going to Tuesday, coming from Tuesday, seeing you on Tuesday" etc. idioms are used. There is an auto market. Ulubey lands were generally empty in the 11th and 12th centuries, when the Oghuz tribes began to migrate to Anatolia. After the victory of Manzikert in 1071, it became a settlement for tribes and tribes belonging to the Turkish and especially Chepni tribes. Emir Danişment was given the lands around Ulubey in accordance with the "Ikta" tradition in the Seljuk states. It joined the Hacı Emiroğulları principality, which was based in Mesudiye in the mid-14th century until the beginning of the 15th century. After Yıldırım Beyazıd, one of the Ottoman sultans, took the principalities in the Black Sea region under his control, as a result of Mehmet Çelebi's attempts to "establish Anatolian unity", the inner regions extending from Ulubey to Mesudiye were annexed to the Ottoman lands. As a result of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan's distribution of Ulubey lands as a fief in 1455, it took the name of a Turkmen lord and became Sevdeşlü, also known as Uluğbey'lü township. The director of Ulubey township is Behram Ağa and the secretary is Arif Efendi. There are no Catholics among the Christian citizens in Ordu and Ulubey. Armenians are 398 households, Greeks are 535 households, Circassians are 30 households, Turks are 2511 households. The total number of households is 3474. Population: Armenian population is 1445, Greek population is 2108, Circassian population is 150, Turkish population is 7651, total population is 11354. It was named Ulubey township in 1547. It remained as a township until 1958. and became a district on April 1, 1958. The first municipal organization was established in March 1958 and the first municipal election was held on February 23, 1958. Currently, there are 41 settlements in Ulubey district, including 35 villages and 6 neighborhoods.
